Tien juryleden van Women’s World Car of the Year reisden af naar Parijs om de Supreme Winner award te overhandigen aan Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson. Op internationale vrouwendag op 8 maart won Peugeot met haar 308 deze internationale autoprijs. Executive President Women’s World Car of the Year Marta Garcia noemt de uitreiking een memorabel moment. En volgens Peugeot directeur Linda Jackson is de award hét bewijs dat Peugeot op de juiste route is. Peugeot nodigde de juryleden ook uit voor een exclusieve onthulling van een nieuw model van de Franse leeuw.
Jackson over de prijs: “Ik neem de award met grote trots namens het gehele Peugeot-team in ontvangst. De prijs bevestigt onze inspanningen voor de toekomst. Het is tevens een eer erkend te worden door een jury van uitsluitend vrouwelijke journalisten. En ik ben blij te zien dat vrouwen een steeds belangrijkere rol spelen in onze sector. Dankzij de Women’s World Car of the Year -award weten we dat we op de goede weg zijn met Peugeot.”
Lucky numbers
De nieuwe 308 streek dit jaar met de hoogste eer toen hij de concurrentie – maar liefst 65 andere auto’s – wereldwijd de loef afstak en tot Supreme Winner werd verkozen door de jury. De tien afgevaardigden in Parijs vertegenwoordigen een jury van bijna 60 vrouwelijke autojournalisten uit meer dan 40 landen. De genomineerde auto’s worden door de jury onafhankelijk beoordeeld op: veiligheid, kwaliteit, prijs design, rijgemak en ecologische voetafdruk.
Executive President Marta Garcia over de winnaar: “De Peugeot 308 is een mondiale auto – een auto dat voldoet aan de behoeften van kopers; van jongeren tot gezinnen en ervaren bestuurders.”. De uitreiking van de award is tevens een historisch moment voor de jury vertelt Garcia: “Voor het eerst in dertien jaar – sinds het bestaan van WWCOTY – wordt de prijs toegekend aan een automerk dat geleid wordt door een vrouw.”
Na de ceremonie werd het gezelschap uitgenodigd in de Peugeot Design Studio in Velizy, even net buiten Parijs, om een eerste glimp op te vangen van een nieuw model van Peugeot. Een exclusieve onthulling, dat in juni aan het grote publiek zal worden onthuld.
